ARTS IN THE PRISON COMMUNITY

Art Expression's Mission is to provide rehabilitative, educational, and therapeutic opportunities for incarcerated individuals through the medium of art. We will utilize the transformative power of music, visual arts, drama, and poetry to nurture personal growth. The program aims to promote self expression, creativity, critical thinking and empathy while fostering a positive sense of self worth and community. We seek to prepare individuals for successful reintegration into society by developing valuable skills, and promoting positive behavior changes. We support the journey to rehabilitation. 

Art Expressions is an idea about tapping into the potential of those who have value, worth, and ability and yet no real place to express these things in a productive way. The exercises we use help stimulate various emotions promoting different forms of self expression and address specific therapeutic goals. The expressions of emotions that can be hindered in an environment that has suppressive qualities like prison, which leads to idle time and lack of self motivation. We help in those areas that may have been overlooked. This can foster a cleansing process that clears a great deal of muck from the individuals involved and help them to live more productive lives.
